Malta Holiday and Destination Guide

OVERVIEW

Malta's strategic position in the centre of the Med means that it has been continuously inhabited (and fought over) since prehistoric times, endowing it with a culture as fascinating and diverse as its history. And we're talking old: Malta's Neolithic temples are the oldest known man-made structures in the world. Add a sprinkling of medieval fortresses, baroque churches and the narrow cobblestone streets of sixteenth-century Valletta and you're starting to get the picture. One look at the island's sandy beaches, clear blue waters and the Mediterranean sun and you can see why Euro vacationers have begun to descend. Somehow, there always seems to be room or a time a year for everyone, all on an island with only 250 square kilometres.
